Did a quick but dramatic photoshoot with my favorite gals today. We sorta mixed 1920's vibes with spooky tarot cards and candles.. I quite like the result!! And before anyone asks, the prism effect is done by a filter for my camera that I got at a used camera store!! Sorry, I wish I could be more helpful when I'm asked about it. M.I.A. ( மாதங்கி 'மாயா' அருள்பிரகாசம்) is inspiring to me on so many levels. She's bad ass, inspires me not to give a what-what and she is a fierce fashion babe. She is also a humanitarian and an out-spoken WoC and in virtue of who she is, what she says and how she says it - I reckon M.I.A. is a rad human-being and someone that I greatly admire.

Jessica and I have an exam today in our class on Political Philosophy...but instead of spending yesterday studying as intended...we played dress-up and took photos in my front yard. Vanity as self-care. Vanity as time-wasting. Vanity 4ever. Jessica is wearing my dress! From Topshop. The faux fur is thrifted, but the brand is George which makes me think it's originally from Walmart? Amazing..  My jacket is thrifted... it was part of a rad pant suit. The dress is Topshop. My mom is the best. She needs a #1 MOM mug badly. For Halloween she dressed up as Tippi Hedren from The Birds... and NAILED IT. Damn now I know where I got all my AWESOME from. Here is my mom, in costume, on point and probably a bit drunk. xoxo the onion peel

It's my birthday today!! I am 21!! One of the best parts of having a late October birthday is that I get to celebrate Halloween (the best holiday) at the same time. So I did that this weekend! I went to Toronto for the ROOKIE MAG masquerade party/art show and got to dance with Petra and Tavi and Sophia and Sarah and lots of other lovely ladies, and Petra got me and my friends on the guest list at Much Music's Electric Circus, which if you're not Canadian means nothing, but it is a really fun cool televised dance rave that used to air every week from 1988-2003. They brought it back this year for Halloween and it was really cool and I was probably on TV which is funny I wish I could watch it and look! Now it's my birthday and I'm home and my mom and sister are making a pumpkin pie (with gingersnap crust) from scratch and we're gonna watch a horror movie and I am just very content. Tyler & I went to NYC this week to see Louis CK at the New York City Center (he was INCREDIBLE...like..no words). Anyway I also got the chance to meet up with lots of my favorite tumblr babes like Arabelle , Billy , and Caroline !!!! So I wanted to do a post about thrifting, and second-hand clothes and goodies. I went to Toronto the other day (see: last post) and while I was there, shopping with Sarah , we went into the loveliest vintage shop called Debbie's Vintage Vibes Boutique . We were attracted to it because it's in this old building, that apparently used to be a funeral home! It's a beautiful space, and it has lots of really cool vintage furniture like vanity mirrors and baby chairs and so on. Also, clothes, of course. And Sarah and I went home with lots of goodies. I told Debbie, the owner, I'd review her and I am genuinely happy to do it! And flattered to have the chance! Debbie is more than just a store-owner, she's a stylist - you can sense how much she truly loves fashion and styling people in her collection of beautiful pieces!!
